Everyone Agrees Practice Matters. So Why Does Nobody Do It?

PrakMate gives people a safe place to practise customer, sales and coaching conversations before performance is on the line. By combining realistic AI-powered practice with structured behavioural feedback and reporting, organisations can build confidence, strengthen capability and gain greater visibility of development opportunities across their teams.
We All Believe in Practice
We've spent a lot of time working with organisations that invest heavily in coaching, training and capability development.
And over the years we've noticed something interesting.
Everyone agrees practice is important. Nobody argues withit.
Leaders want their people to practice difficult conversations. Managers want their teams to rehearse customer interactions. New starters want to build confidence before facing a real customer. Coaches want to get better at coaching.

Yet somehow, practice is often the first thing that disappears.
That's surprising when you consider that decades of learning and performance research have consistently shown that confidence and capability are built through experience, repetition and opportunities to apply skills in realistic situations.
It appears role plays have a bit of an image problem.
The Role Play Problem
You know the moment. The facilitator announces: "Okay everyone, let's break into pairs and do a role play."
Half the room suddenly becomes very interested in their phones. Someone urgently needs coffee. Someone remembers an email they absolutely must send right now.
Role plays are one of those things everybody knows are good for them, but very few people genuinely look forward to.
The same thing happens in coaching. When schedules get busy, role plays are often the first thing sacrificed.
Not because people don't care. Because they're awkward, time-consuming and require at least one other person who is willing to pretend to be an angry customer for the fifth time that week.
We have watched this play out for years, and it's alwaysfelt like a missed opportunity.
Confidence Comes From Experience
Every day we ask people to handle difficult customer conversations, have coaching discussions, deliver feedback or manage complaints. Yet many of them have spent more time reading about those conversations than actually practising them.
When you think about it, that's a pretty strange way to build confidence.
Because if confidence comes from experience, where arepeople supposed to get that experience before the real conversation happens?
Why We Built PrakMate
That's the thinking that led us to build PrakMate.
Not because we wanted another AI tool. The world probably has enough of those already.
We built it because we kept seeing the same problem. Everybody valued practice. Almost nobody could create enough opportunities for it.
PrakMate is an AI-powered practice partner that allows people to step into realistic conversations whenever they want.
Whether it's a sales conversation, a coaching discussion, handling a complaint or navigating a difficult stakeholder interaction, people can practise when they need to, not when someone else's calendar allows it.
No scheduling. No training room. No waiting for someone else's availability.
Just an opportunity to practise as many times as required.

More Than Another AI Tool
For us, what makes PrakMate interesting isn't the technology itself. It's the accessibility.
The fact that somebody can build confidence at the exactmoment they need it.
Because confidence doesn't come from reading about a conversation. It comes from having one.
Getting it wrong, trying again, learning, improving, then doing it again.
While there are plenty of AI tools focused on giving people answers, we're much more interested in helping people build capability.
Because when a real customer, employee or stakeholder is sitting in front of you, there isn't an AI tool having that conversation. You are.
The Real Challenge
Most people don't need more information. They need more opportunities to practise.
The challenge has never been understanding the value of practice.
The challenge has always been making it accessible enough that people actually do it.
